Recently, I come across an article How Blogs Impact Your Business. In that article, the author emphasizes that in this new age of high technology, great marketing strategy does not only include a good team, good idea, good product and visibility. It also involves direct connection with the world wide web of customers. Aggressive companies have also resorted to blogging to make their products reach as many people as possible. I could not count how many web directories I have visited. When I was still a newbie blogger, I prepared a long list of web directories and submitted my young blog to them. I was so excited to see my blog appeared whenever I goggled it. After a day or two, I received notices that my blog has been accepted and I could not help but be happy that these web directories are just so wonderful that they knew how to crawl every single posts I have.
Oftentimes, web directories allow site owners to directly submit their site for inclusion, and these web directories have very good editors who review these submissions and they have the right to judge if these submissions fit into their categories.
As far as I have observed, most web directories do not charge for the review and the listing. I do not submit my blogs and my websites to paid web directories, though. However, as a gesture of thanks, I always make it a point to link back to the directory somewhere in my blogs and websites, most often in the sidebar. Interestingly, some web directories also require reciprocal links in order to be accepted in their categories.
